About Reverse Osmosis

Reverse Osmosis (RO) is one of the most popular methods for effective home water purification due to its ability to deliver bottled water levels of safety and taste.  Leading bottled water companies use large-scale RO systems to produce their water; so instead of paying them, consider the cost-effectiveness of a home RO system that removes over 95% - 99% of dissolved minerals, chlorine, and other undesirable substances.  Crystal clear point of use water for drinking, cooking, and a myriad of other uses is only a call away.  Call GPS Plumbing @ (469) 777 – 0217 today to schedule a RO system installation.

Reverse Osmosis (RO) Process

Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a water purification process, where water forced through porous membrane filtration technology, effectively removes undesirable substances such as salt, lead, arsenic, nitrates, giardia, pharmaceuticals, and cryptosporidium cysts from a home’s potable water supply.  The undesirable substances (hard water minerals) blocked from passing through the membrane, are removed by the system and carried away by the home’s drain-waste-vent system.

The RO filtration process produces clear, fresh tasting and purified water at a fraction of the cost of bottled water.  RO is considered the most effective technology for improving and purifying household drinking water and is a superior choice when compared to other home water purification alternatives!

Residential Reverse Osmosis Systems

A residential under sink reverse osmosis (RO) system is an affordable and effective, point-of-use water purification system that produces an unlimited supply of clean, clear, fresh smelling and bottle water quality drinking water.  Household systems are comprised of:

  • One or more pre-filters,
  • A reverse osmosis module
  • Post filter
  • Storage tank, and
  • A dedicated RO faucet that dispenses the filtered water

We have extensive experience installing, repairing, and maintaining various types and brands of reverse osmosis systems.  We are not in the retail RO system business but can assist in the decision process to determine which system and brand is best for an application.

Installation Services

Our installation services are based on the customer selecting and purchasing the RO system, and GPS Plumbing installing it.  We have extensive experience installing various types, sizes, and brands of reverse osmosis systems.

The installation process is as follows:

  • An installation date and time is set
  • We will arrive on time with all the required tools and parts required for the installation (Note: you can purchase the RO System in advance or we can – it is your choice)
  • We turn off the cold water underneath the sink
  • We connect the RO system to the cold water supply and the drain
  • We install the RO faucet that requires a hole in your sink/counter top large enough to accommodate the spigot/faucet.  The spigot hole options are: 1] drill a new hole in the sink, 2] reuse an existing hole, 3] remove a soap dispenser and reuse that hole.  (Note that we do not drill any holes in granite, marble, soapstone, Formica, or a few other materials – a third party can perform this task.)
  • We test the system and clean up the area
  • You enjoy clean and pure water right from your tap at a fraction of the cost of bottled water

Repair Services

The most common problem associated with a RO system is that they occasionally leak.  If you notice water in and around the RO system, it is an indication that the system may be or is leaking.

Any water leak has the potential to do significant damage, so it is best to have it fixed quickly to mitigate damage.  GPS Plumbing ill diagnose the problem and provide cost effective solution.

Maintenance Services

The RO filter requires periodic replacement to ensure the quality of the water.   Changes in the smell, color, and taste of RO produced water normally indicates that a filter needs replacement.

Contact us to schedule a service call to replace the RO filters.  To ensure the continued quality of the water, we highly recommend that the filter replacements be consistent with manufacturer recommendations.  We can, at your convenience; schedule periodic filter replacements to optimize RO system performance.
